What is a Lithophane?
A lithophane is a special type of artwork that comes to life when light shines through it. It’s a 3D image made from varying thicknesses of material—usually 3D-printed or carved. The thinner areas let more light through, appearing brighter, while the thicker areas block more light and look darker.
When placed in front of a light source (like a nightlight, lamp, or window), the image reveals stunning detail, depth, and contrast. In normal light, it looks like a simple textured surface, but when illuminated, it becomes a glowing, detailed picture.
